What is Freiberg's disease?
Triathlete Mike Phillips, our Team Formthotics Ambassador from Christchurch, New Zealand just made history the beginning of October 2017. Mike competed in his first Full Ironman Race in Barcelona, Spain finishing 2nd overall among a huge field of seasoned triathletes. His time of 7 hr, 52 min, 50 sec was the fastest debut world Ironman racer's time in history and his time is the 2nd fastest Kiwi ironman in NZ! This was also one of the busiest races this fall with over 100 pro triathletes registered! The top finishing times are recorded to earn points toward an invitation to the 2018 World Champion Triathlon in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, so a lot of athletes enter this IM creating a huge field of swimmers, cyclists, and runners to contend with.
"The golf swing always starts from the ground up." - Jack Nicklaus- Retired PGA Golfer. Golfing with excellent foot support to improve balance, stance, and stability is a critical component. Adding Formthotics™ Sport Golf customisable orthotics into your golf shoes can really help improve this stability and support. You can play golf in comfortable shoes for longer with less fatigue; move more efficiently with better responsiveness; and gain improved stability. Ultimately, you’ll enjoy greater performance while playing golf.
I love to run, but this was not always the case. It is great for physical and mental health as well as being a great social outlet. A while back I was only able to run 500 metres before I had to walk to catch my breath, but in a few months I was running my first half marathon (and running the entire distance without stopping to walk!).
One of our United Kingdom Physio Therapists, Gerard Greene has been offering training to Physio therapists throughout Europe in our Formthotics brand for foot orthotics. Gerard began to fit Formthotics to his own patients within his clinic this year because he found they make such a great difference for people in their shoes. We had the priviledge to ask Gerard a few questions about the benefits he is finding fitting his patients with Formthotics.
The first time I ran a half marathon was in 2015 when my husband convinced me to join him with his upbeat attitude and his ability to sell ice to Eskimos chat about how amazing running a half marathon is. It was the Melbourne Marathon that ended inside the M.C.G. and I was pumped!

One of our Team Formthotics Ambassadors, Peter Sandholt, is racing in the 2017 Redbull Trans Siberian Extreme Cycling Race that goes 9,278 km across the nation of Russia. The race began 18th July 2017 and will run 24 days to 10th August. It covers a huge scope of Russia - Moscow to Vladivostock.
This is by far the toughest, longest, ultra-cycling stage race in the world. The cyclists will cover 5 climate zones, 8 time zones, 14 stages, 9287 km, all in 24 days. The cycling across Russia race is very prestigious - being the world's longest and most difficult. You have to be invited to race in this one. Peter began with 7 other men cyclists and 2 women cyclists in the race. The TransSiberian Extreme is 2X longer than the Race Across America & 3X longer than the Tour de France.
Peter Sandholt is a High School teacher from Denmark. Peter has found tremendous help with Formthotics in his cycling shoes as they have worked to prevent a common difficulty with long distance cycling - "hotfeet", have helped position Peter's feet better over his pedals to provide more power, have prevented injury and helped prevail foot strength.

Did you know that Foot Science International, the creators of Formthotics, is offering three more intensive one-day medical training courses, Entering the FootZone that we provide in New Zealand for medical professionals who are interested in increasing their knowledge of the foot and lower limb, and good treatment options? Make sure to click on the links below to sign up for one of the three dates offered in August, September, and October.
Simply put, Entering the FootZone provides the essential link between the biomechanical models and patient assessment stages of the process and the all-important prescription stage. A lot of training courses end at the evaluation stage, and you aren’t given the tools to make accurate prescriptions. Entering the Foot Zone aims to create a seamless process from Theory - Assessment - Prescription - Fitting - Review - Evaluation of Results.

This course can act as a refresher for podiatrists or a special interest course for other medical professionals including physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, sports medicine practitioners and orthotists who are interested in the FootZone. Learn new clinical methods with the revised "6 Tests, 6 Steps" a patient centric process of assessment, selection and fitting of Formthotics. Learn when it is best to refer to a podiatrist and what you can help assess.
The goal is to walk away from the course being able to confidently asses your patient's foot and lower limb function and pathology.
